Alexandre Marreiros

Portugal

Alexandre was born in 1984 in Cascais, Portugal. He studied arts in high school, graduated and master in architecture from the Faculty of Architecture and Arts at the Lusíada University of Lisbon.

He is a member of the Order of Architects, Architecture Sans Frontieres (Architects without Frontiers), Asia-Pacific Cities Institute of Architecture and Art For All. He lived in Rio de Janeiro, where he developed artistic work and a study on the slum as an architectural phenomenon. During this time in Brazil, he participated in several artistic initiatives and events, namely at Parque Lage, at MAM (Museum of Modern Art) and at Museu do Açude (Açude Museum). He presented his work in individual and group exhibitions in Lisbon and Macao. He participated as a guest artist at the Silêncio Festival (Festival of Silence) in Lisbon – Festival da Palavra (Festival of the Word), and at the Macao Literary Festival – Rota das Letras in 2016 and 2019, where he presented the exhibition entitled Occupy the Imaginary and participated in ConTEXTualizing the City, Architecture as a grammar for life with the presentation of “Architecture as story matter”.

In 2015 he received an honorable mention from Portuguese Contemporary Illustration, and participated in the Nikon Photo Contest with six photographs selected by the jury. He exhibited individually at MAM (Macao Museum of Art), Casa da Cultura da Comporta (Comporta House of Culture), Creative Macau (Macao Cultural Center), Art Garden and Giv Lowe Gallery in Lisbon. Lives and works in Macau.
