Blanc Art at YIA Art Fair Brussels | Metaphysical

Blanc Art at YIA Art Fair Brussels | Metaphysical

The YIA Art Fair #09 will be held in Brussels, Belgium at the Square Meeting Centre from 20th to 23rd of April, 2017. Blanc Art is honored to present four uprising artists: Choi Su Weng, Yang Kai, Omar Saadoune and Silvère Jarrosson. Four artists with different interpretation of the Metaphysical in the art world; Inviting the audience to explore the unknown through their work.

Born in the 50’s, Macanese artist Choi Su Weng has been engaging in oil painting throughout the years, from early figurative still life to the later abstract landscape, Choi is an artist with his peculiar language; rooted in the combination of modern Western painting concept and oriental art aesthetic, his exploration rewards him the unique beautifully infusion of traditional Chinese ink poetic charm and picturesque grace. The distinctive colour arrangement scheme draws from Chinese seal engraving and calligraphy, which creates base on traditional Chinese painting aesthetic. Choi’s subtle works implicitly contain the artist’s broad worldview and in-depth reflects of the reality.

Using the fluidity of the Chinese traditional ink drawings and the contemporary influenced composition, Yang Kai seeks an individualized manner to define and present his judgments and emotions toward culture. In this ever-changing digital age, a lot of traditions and heritage are fading; using traditional Chinese Ink paintings, Kai examines the relationship between the old and new; emphasizing on the idea of heritage, Kai’s work promotes the traditional Art. Being educated in the U.K., western influences are clearly traceable in Kai’s work, and it is precisely that unique combination of diversity that gave Kai’s work the charisma.

Omar Saadoune is an Artist from Larache, Morocco. Saadoune produced work in a variety of media includes painting, multi-media, performance and installation art. Born in Morocco, a country with dizzily vibrant culture, Saadoune developed a great interest for art and its different forms of expression; his work employs a unique combination of spots and line; using drip-paint technique, everything is given a new forms and definitions. His critically acclaimed short film “Silent Dreams” took the Art circles by storm and has won numerous awards, such as the jury prize at the International Amateur Film Festival of Kelibia (FIFAK) in 2009. In November 2016, one of his pieces was collected by The Tetouan Centre of Modern Art.

Silvère Jarrosson graduated from the Paris Opera Ballet School and studied directly with the great painter Wilmer Herrison. His ballet root heavily influenced his later artworks, the physical movement of dancing became one of the main inspirations of his acrylic works. Through the dripping technique he has developed, the artist creates a unique and abstract scenery on the canvas. Akin to action-painting, his works are based on the precise knowledge of the physical reactions of the paint, his magnificent pieces have been exhibited and collected not only in France but internationally.

Blanc Art proudly presents the finely selected artworks of four artists: Choi Su Weng, Yang Kai, Omar Saadoune and Silvère Jarrosson. Coming from different parts of the globe and artistic backgrounds, the artists’ works all revolved around a common theme – Metaphysical. Using different media, the artists demonstrate a hyper-physical view, whether by reinventing the existing kind or exploring the unknown. The four artists interpret the Metaphysical in their own way, all leaving the audiences with a wide space for imagination. Their works provoke the audiences’ point of view on the current world; encouraging the audiences to break free from the habit of inertial thinking, leading them to another spiritual level.

Cryptic Fragment

Cryptic Fragment

Silvère Jarrosson graduated from the Paris Opera Ballet School and studied directly with the great painter Willmer Herrison. Influence by his ballet backgrounds, dance becomes one of the main inspirations of his acrylic abstract works.

He has been experimenting movements and effects of the movement with the paint, while his style, unique and recognizable, through the dripping technique he has developed. Akin to action-painting, his work based on the precise knowledge of the physical reactions of the paint, his magnificent pieces have been exhibited and collected not in France but internationally.

Silvère Jarrosson works by series. Each series has an abstract theme, an idea and a particular painting technique that he explores canvas by canvas, giving them both a unity of style and particular singularity.

During this exhibition, several great artworks are chosen from ‘Comas’, ‘Creature’ and ‘No Man’s Land’ these three series. At the same time, some recent work are also exhibited.  The dreamlike visions of ‘Comas’ explore the hazy mental state of consciousness that animates us; the state of our minds and also that of our bodies. In tribute to a friend that was struck by illness, his works are an invitation to reflect on internal struggles, our emotions and ourselves.  They grow, mingle and blur like nascent ideas. The ‘Comas’, between the suffering over obsession and the fulfilment of dreams.

His ‘Creatures’ are abstract beings that evolve, move, twist and transform within his canvas. They have the freedom of our imagination. These paintings echo with our fascination and our innate fear of the living world. We are confronted with strangeness.

The series ‘No Man’s Land’ descend from the evolution of cold, viscous and mineral materials question our place as living beings in a wider cosmos, where the eternal stands alongside the instantaneous. Life, like the universe, exists only in the present, whilst developing, changing or unchanging, in a space of time close to the eternal. These works give way to contemplative meditation, each of us faced for a moment with the emptiness of astronomical time and the apparent immobility of an ever-changing landscape. The series represents the wandering of a lonely man, lost in his own world; an exploration of the desert.

While Choi Su Weng’s abstract oil paintings are rigorously delicate, with the east meet west ideology and contrasting expressive colour palette, Choi incorporates Chinese Ink style in his oil painting. His works correlate to the nature and lead one into in-depth pondering.

On the other hands, Justin Y, a Singaporean finger painter, his works are happy-endings of his beloved bright and energic colours. Through his works, a colourful and passionate summer-time fantasy is visualized. Bold and reserved emotions exhibited vividly and implicitly through his fingertips by firm and precise powerful movements.

Contrastingly, the works of Silvère Jarrosson are exquisite and elegant, as if in exposure to waltz. The graceful strokes are admiringly vigorous which energetically drifting towards the miracle.

However, regardless the styles and medium, one can surely experience the powerful vivacity of the exhibiting pieces.

While participating in this exposition, BLANC ART aims to popularize Macanese contemporary art, promote in-depth understanding of Macau art proposition to the participate visitors.

“2016 ART MO Art Exhibition at BLANC ART Macau – YANGKAI ART PROJECT”

“2016 ART MO Art Exhibition at BLANC ART Macau – YANGKAI ART PROJECT”

“2016 ART MO Art Exhibition in Macao – YANGKAI ART PROJECT” will be held from November 30 to January 5 2017 by Blanc Art Co, organized by the Macau Art and Culture Industry Association and Friends of Art Association. The exhibition will show seven works of contemporary artist Yang Kai from the period of 2012 to 2013. The media is ink on paper, and the series name is (Ceremonial), The opening of the exhibition will be held on December 18th at 4pm in Blanc Art exhibition room.

Yang Kai’s participation of art begins with the concept of “things”, and in this concept clearly shows the inherent contradictions and contradictions. He acknowledges that the general “thing-oriented” ontology emphasizes that there is no essential difference between “things and spirit” and the “halo” that art distributes. Therefore, his creation is not so much given to the subjective status of things equal to people, rather than in his creation – that is, in the design and manufacture of a “work” to dilute and digest people to “material” put on transcendence on the outfit.

But Yang Kai is not satisfied with the average boredom. He set a very contemporary restriction on his work of “de-enchantment”, and retained the sense of merchandise of the works, and gave them the mystical character of the commodity which Marx called “the magic of commodity”

When describing a table, Marx described it as “flaunting the crowd to the side, not only with its feet on the ground … with the head upside down, it gives birth through its head, it extracts from its wooden head a whole lineage of fantastic or prodigious creatures”Thus in the mood of consumer goods, material is given the soul. For Marx, this is the tricks of capitalism. Yang Kai has this intrigue as intrusion, and challenge the current effective mechanism for the review of the rules, the rules applied to the creation.

Yang Kai graduated from the University for Creative Arts in UK, Fine Art Degree (UK Kent Institute of Art & Design) is now working in Beijing and London. In his world of artistic creation, he has attempted to define and present his judgment and feelings of culture by seeking a style with a strong personal flavor. In his eyes, the media is to ensure that the form and meaning of the key generation. Having received the college-style traditional training while he study in China, as well as western education in the UK. Yang Kai’s media exploration evoluted to multi-dimensional divergence with a balance. After many attempts, he finally chose ink as his media, to tell the culture of a nation in the present of existence and significance.

“Silver spoon” pop up store at Play Hub Expo

For some of us in Macau, throwing away food is as thoughtless as the act of breathing. But some people this planet who lose the chance to take their next breath because of starvation. According to the most recent data from the UN’s Food and Agricultural Organization, hunger or undernourishment is still a problem that affects 795 million people. Macau artist João Jorge Magalhães created a spectacular installation – Tsunami two which is composed of over five hundred “silver spoons”. While admiring his beautiful installation, immerse in the meaningful wake up call about the global food insecurity problem behind the scene

Historically, silver is synonymous with wealth. Someone born into a wealthy family is said to have been “born with a silver spoon in his mouth” – they will never experience hunger. For most of us living in Macau, hunger is something we seldom encounter. We do not know the feeling of having zero or limited access to daily essentials, but it is the reality for almost a billion people on earth. Through this exhibition and volunteering kindness, we can make a small difference. As the proverb goes, “It is better to give than to receive.”

For two days beginning on the 8th of July, 2016, Blanc Art will open a pop-up store in Expo Hall D at the The Venetian Macao (booths M49-M54). In addition to showing work from artists from Macau, Singapore and France, Blanc Art will continue to give the public an opportunity to act charitably in owning a piece of João Jorge Magalhães’ art installation, “Silver Spoon”. “TSUNAMI TWO” works by João Jorge Magalhães

João Jorge Magalhães lives in Macau since the age of four. Facing the over development in Macau, he feels the frustration. The nostalgic fragments of an “Old Macau” continue to inspire his artwork. His installation piece, Tsunami two, is representing a tsunami (in this case, in the form of two waves that look like hurricanes) which composed by over five hundred of interlined spoons. That is remarkably meaningful as historically “Silver Spoon” is synonymous with wealth, especially inherited wealth; someone born into a wealthy family is said to have “been born with a silver spoon in his mouth”, they never know what is hunger. Living in Macau, hunger is never close to us, we do not know or care much about the food crisis around the world. But we can absolutely change that. Becoming a giver can be a first step, well goes the proverb, “It’s more blessed to give than to receive!”
